Sister White runs our asthma and COPD clinics. We advise all our
asthmatic patients to visit this clinic on a regular basis for monitoring of
medication, assessment of the disease and to ensure correct use of inhalers.
The surgery will offer all asthma and COPD patients an annual check.

Mr Altaz Dhanani runs our Diabetic Clinics. All diabetic
patients are advised to attend this clinic on a regular basis in order that the
disease may be monitored. The practice will also arrange for diabetic patients
to undergo retinal screening and foot checks. The surgery will offer all
diabetic patients an annual check.
|
Sister Bramwell runs our CHD Clinics focusing on patients with
high cholesterol, hypertension and history of angina/heart disease. Losing
weight and giving up smoking are also addressed under CHD. The surgery will
offer all coronary heart disease patients an annual check.

These are run by our Health Visitor and are held in the
Pentecostal church in Tilton Road on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday afternoons from
2.00 p.m., running parallel with our Ante Natal Clinic. Babies are normally
weighed and monitored by the health visitors who will also give advice as and
when required.
|
These are offered on a weekly basis and clinics are run by Dr
Turner, Dr Vincent, Dr Thomason and our health visitor. Child health
surveillence is sometimes combined with childhood immunisation and mum's post
natal checks.
|
This surgery has facilities to perform minor surgery at the
discretion of the relevant doctor. Dr Turner and Dr Thomason perform minor
surgery and patients must see him in routine surgery before a minor operation
can be arranged.
Wart and verucca clinics are held twice monthly and are run by
our practice nurses.
|
This is not run as a fixed clinic. The practice nurse arranges
repeat oral contraception checks and prescriptions. Coil fittings are available
with Dr Vincent. Patients requiring contraceptive services for the first time
must see a doctor.
|
These clinics are also run by the practice nurses under guidance
by Dr. Jones. Patients who would rather have a doctor are free to do so, as
long as they make their request clear when making the appointment. Current
medical opinion is that all women over 45 years should have a smear every 5
years and all (sexually active) women under 45, every 3 years. Your doctor will
inform you if there are any variations from these guidelines.

Travel vaccinations are available here on the NHS with the
exception of Yellow Fever and Rabies for which there will be a charge. We can
provide most vaccinations required for worldwide travel. Also available are
vaccination certificates (6.50), advice on travelling, information booklets
etc. The practice nurse provides this service.

The health visitors carry out routine childhood immunisations at
the times explained in that section. This includes rubella for the 13 year olds
and tetanus/polio boosters for tile 15 year olds. Anyone over the age of 16
requiring tetanus, polio, hepatitis B etc. must make an appointment with the
practice nurse.

Regular clinics are held for this service every year from
October to the end of January, Posters and leaflets advertising this service
will appear at the appropriate time in the surgery. This service is usually
limited to people who are over the age of 65, or have a heart, diabetic or lung
condition. This service is also available to transplant and immuno-suppresed
patients.
We respectfully ask patients who do not fall within these
categories, not to request this service until we have immunised all those at
highest risk, as supplies of this vaccine are often limited. The effectiveness
of this vaccine varies with the individual. The influenza vaccine can give flu
like symptoms for 24 hours after vaccination.
